In the age of social networking and instant communication, when you’d think that friendships and love affairs are more accessible than ever, many people suffer from a profound sense of loneliness. Ugo Arsac looks at the Girlfriend Experience (GFE) service, in which sex workers offer not just sexual services, but also tenderness and intimacy. What’s at stake in this paid relationship is no longer pleasure, but the feeling of being loved…

A multi-screen installation made of smartphones becomes the support for a film in 3D point clouds. By dialing a number on their own phone, visitors have access to the testimonies of sex workers and their clients, who recount their quest for affection and authenticity.
